It's patriotic to waste food.
Regarding those mammoth Cheesecake Factory salads in the previous post: being the good lapsed Catholics that we are, mom, sister and I had considerable guilt about the loads of wasted salad we all left on our plates--literally about 4 servings each. We couldn't bring home doggy bags because we had a huge Easter Sunday meal planned for the next day and they'd just go to waste. We told our waiter how guilty we felt, and he said, "That's ok. That's why the Cheesecake Factory makes everything so big." Huh? So it can go to waste?!? WTF?!? Only in good ol' America. Big servings=so unpretty.

whats ok to waste:
1. salad-too soggy the next day
2. dessert-because i shouldnt have ordered it in the first place
and
3. your waiter's time, as you and your booze imbibed friends try to figure out the math on friggin $67.00 check..."wait, who ordered the $13 pina colata?"
Just an FYI to anyone who is watching their figure and eating at the Cheesecake Factory...One slice of the plain, read that again, PLAIN, cheesecake is enough fat and calories for one day. Ok, maybe not, but it's still almost 700 calories and 45 GRAMS OF FAT! GROSS! Now imagine what's in the double chocolate peanut butter crunch snickers blast cheesecake you want to order....
I, too, question the reasoning behind TCF's outrageously large salads. Why don't they offer a 1/2 portion for those that don't want to split them (assuming that's why they're so big in the first place)? I've yet to see one person come close to finishing one of them by themselves.
I don't know where I'm going with this, but I agree...it's a terrible waste.
