Evict Vick.

Now, I don't love dogs, but I abhor animal abuse. That said, I think Michael Vick is a monster, yet Nike keeps him on because...?

Thanks to Smedelicious for sending on this link to petition against Nike's endorsement of Vick.

Let's not forget the tried and true judicial oath that the U.S. is based on -- Innocent Until Proven Guilty.
I'm not saying that I condone dog fighting or that I think Vick is a saint but I think that statements like these only continue to paint people with a black brush when it isn't warranted at this time. However, if Vick is found guilty of the crimes that the government is potentially going to charge him with and Nike doesn't fire him then that is abhorrent.

i hear you, rage. But i also hear he had 55 dogs on his property and all the accoutrement for fighting them.

If those are the indisputable facts as reported, then I don't see why Nike has to wait 6 months until a jury says so. There are so many grey areas in the law.

Like Kate Moss-- her contracts didn't wait until she was convicted of the crime, since they saw pics of her doing coke.

The moment he's found guilty, strip his endorsements. Until then, they don't want to lose him just to find out later he's cleared of the charges.

It was his property, but he allegedly didn't live there, so who knows?

Regardless, what was happening at the home was disgusting and I can not see him getting off scott-free.

I understand your issues, as a matter of fact I agree with most of what you are referring to but we still have the problem of not really knowing what's going on. You, a person well acquainted with the media, are referring to a case that is currently being tried in the media. We are not privy to the 'evidence' that the government might have against Vick -- again, I'm not a supporting him in anyway -- I'm simply stating that there is due process and we should adhere to that.
In regard to the Kate Moss incident, at least there was photographic 'evidence' that implicated her in participating in illicit activity, something that the general public and her clients could react to. What we're currently reacting to in Vick's case is hearsay. Among the hearsay is that Vick didn't even live on the property that these dog fights were happening -- whatver.
You know that I would be right there beside you condemning Vick, the Falcons, and Nike if/when all of these allegations are proven.
As it stands, we should be happy that this case is shedding light on a bigger problem than Vick – the hideously illegal world of dog fighting.

Touchy subject for everyone. However, everyone has an opinion. Everyone has the right to an opinion, and that's what makes the USA so effing awesome, and so retarded at the same time.

From everything that I have read, which is quite a bit, my OPINION is that this effer is guilty and should rot in hell, and jail for that matter. Am I wrong? Who knows. Who cares. I believe what I want to believe. He owns so many properties that he doesn't realize 50 dogs are being trained to fight, die and be tortured on his property? Then start paying attention, and take responsibility for your degenerate "cousin" whose apparent house it is.

I think he sucks. Do I need a jury to prove me wrong? Absolutely not.

ragey, i'm picking up what you are throwing down. and that is that I am making a rash decision to determine someone's fate based on hearsay.

while I think smed's reasoning is brilliant, I am going to capitulate and say in this case, ragey is right. the media, the dear sweet media, is not the law.

i stand corrected.

holy shite. this was awesome. a+ everyone.

however, i have no doubt that they will have photographic evidence linking this jerk to these fights, as typically they are taped.

and fa real: how could you not know 55 dogs were being kept on one of your properties?

please. give me a break.

Just playing devil's advocate...

A lot of athletes have entourages and family with "not-so-great credit" and typically purchase things in their own name, even though they do not use the property, car, or whatever it is.

NOT saying that this is the case with Vick.

At least the NFL has made the decision to keep Vick and his circus away from training came so that he can focus on his impending legal issues.
I wonder what I would do as a pr person for either Vick, the Falcons, or Nike?
That's got to be an interesting position to be in right now, don't you think?

On a serious note, I LOVE that you used Touché.

Touché is just not used enough in this world, and I adore it.

Oh, and everyone should keep in mind how psychotic I am about animals. I almost adopted a paralyzed cat the other day. I am not kidding.
