i hope i'm not the only one who has discovered the beauty of ordering used books on amazon.com. yesterday i ordered one for $.013--that's thirteen measly cents. plus, of course, about $3 shipping, but getting a book for under $4 is a-some. amazon makes it so easy to order that you can forget you've ordered just as soon as you hit "proceed to checkout." so when the book arrives at your doorstep, it's like a gift you didn't even know you gave yourself! i assuage my guilt about ordering from a big tom-hanks-in-you've-got-mail conglomorate too, because i know the books come not from amazon, but from indie sellers all over the country. and the books come in pretty good shape--a sticker here, a dog ear there, heh.
here's the rub: careful when ordering more than one used book at once, though. they come from different sellers and you'll pay shipping for each book, rather than one lump sum for shipping.
then, do your duty as a reading citizen and pass on the book when you are done. everyone deserves a little used-book loving now and then.
